I’m interested in making theatre that feels alive: playful, physical, surprising and aware of the audience in the room.
I’m a Canadian theatre director and theatre-maker based in London, working across new writing, adaptation and reimagined classics. My work is rooted in ensemble, physical storytelling and play, with a particular interest in transformation, ritual and the live relationship between performer and audience.
I’m drawn to work that embraces the live event – that transforms, surprises and allows the audience to become part of the world we create. |
How I Got HereI came to directing through acting. I trained as a performer at Humber College in Toronto, and much of my early training was rooted in physical theatre. I became fascinated not just by what was happening onstage, but by how a piece was built — how bodies, movement, text, space and an ensemble could come together to create a world.
That curiosity eventually brought me to London and to the MA Theatre Directing programme at East 15 Acting School, where I graduated with Distinction. My performer training still lives in the way I direct. I think physically, I like to get work on its feet, and I’m interested in giving actors the space to play, make offers and discover the work by doing. Since then, my practice has grown across professional theatre and actor training, but that instinct to get into a room, put something on its feet and discover it with the people I’m working with has stayed at the heart of how I make theatre. |

Making theatre across two places I call home.

Being Canadian and making work in London has become an important part of my practice. I’m interested in what happens when artists and stories travel — what we bring with us, what changes, and how a story can take on a different life somewhere else. As Artistic Director of Little Lion Theatre Company, I’ve built a home for that exchange, bringing Canadian work to UK audiences and creating opportunities for Canadian artists working here. Little Lion has also given me the space to develop work over time — from first conversations and workshops through to full production. |

In the Rehearsal Room
Rigour. Curiosity. Collaboration.
I like rehearsal rooms that are rigorous without losing their sense of play. I work physically and collaboratively, getting ideas on their feet early and giving actors space to make offers, take risks and find their own relationship to the work.
I’m interested in building a shared theatrical language with an ensemble — through movement, text, sound, improvisation and the possibilities of the space. I come into the room with a strong sense of the world we’re making, but I want the actors to have real ownership of how we get there.
That approach also sits at the heart of my work in actor training. At East 15 Acting School and Fourth Monkey, I bring the expectations of a professional rehearsal room together with the freedom to experiment, fail, rethink and discover.
